- Says Governor good for APC ticket
BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Drum beats for the 2023 presidency are sounding loud and clear with the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Mathew Kolawole delivering measured rhythms for his Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello
Speaker Kolawole picked Bauchi State as the arena to announce that Bello has agreed to aspire for the presidency in the next general elections on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.
Interestingly, Kolawole was in the North east state to woo his colleagues Bauchi House of Assembly members for the 2023 Yahaya Bello project, maintaining that the governor is eminently qualified to run for Nigeria’s top office come 2023 considering his political pedigree and performance as Kogi State chief executive.
In what seems a light smack on the aging Buhari presidency, Kolawole said Nigeria needs a vibrant leader, who will work diligently and without fatigue to fix Nigeria’s numerous challenges, stressing that Governor Bello has displayed great qualities as a vibrant and focused leader going by his tremendous achievements in Kogi State.
He said; “He is young, energetic, vibrant and a good leader. He has done it in Kogi State in all the areas of development of the state. He has delivered and opened up the state to a position of envy by other states in the country.”
The Kogi Speaker said as a youth, Governor Bello has the strength to transverse the country to understand and proffer solutions to existing and emerging challenges for the nation’s development.
According to him, the governor is not only energetic but also has the political might to beat whoever will come out as an aspirant for the nation’s number one seat under the APC’s banner.
In his opinion, the Kogi governor has remained a committed and trusted member of the ruling party since its formation, adding that the Kogi State Assembly is kick-starting the Bello’s Movement from Bauchi State House of Assembly because its Speaker is currently chairing the Conference of Speakers of Nigeria and must be given that honour.
In his response, Speaker of Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Y Suleiman lauded his Kogi State counterpart for spearheading governor’s aspirations, saying it goes to demonstrate the existing cordial relationship between the executive and legislative arms.
Suleiman said with support and backing by the Legislature across the country who are mostly APC members, the Project 2023 has positive prospects and urged APC members to rally round one of their own.
