COVID-19: NCDC Confirms 1,244 New Cases, Tally Now 101,331

BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – As concerns over the second wave of coronavirus gather steam, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday night confirmed 1,244 new cases of COVID-19.

The latest figure brings the total number of infections in the country to 101,331 reported cases on the increase in the last one week.

Captured on its official Twitter handle, the NCDC said; “On the 11th of January 2020, 1244 new confirmed cases and three (3) deaths were recorded in Nigeria.”

It further stated that: “Till date, 101,331 cases have been confirmed, 80,491 cases have been discharged and 1,361 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).”

A breakdown of 1244 new cases reported from 18 states of the federation indicated as follows: Lagos – (774), FCT – (125), Plateau – (102), Anambra – (47), Ondo – (46), Rivers – (27) and Edo – (18)

Others are: Kaduna – (16), Ogun – (16), Gombe – (16), Bauchi – (11), Kano – (11), Nasarawa – (10), Akwa Ibom – (7), Sokoto – (7), Borno – (5), Ekiti – (4), and Zamfara – (2)

It further explained that “Our discharges today includes 144 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.”
