Kwara APC Crisis: Senators Back Governor Abdulrazak, Dump Lai Mohammed In The Cold
BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State on Wednesday garnered more support and recognition as leader of the State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This followed the resolved of the three senators from the state to queue up behind in the leadership crisis rocking the APC.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed is known to be leading some Abuja politicians from the State to fight Governor Abdulrazaq over the control of the APC in the State.
In a deft political move and maneuver that swept Mr Lai Mohammed off his feet in the political equation in Kwara State, the three senators from the State on Wednesday openly dumped the Information minister and declared their unalloyed support and loyalty for Governor Abdulrazaq.
The three Senators namely Ibrahim Oloriegbe (Kwara Central), Lola Ashiru (Kwara South), and Umar Sadiq (Kwara North), declared at a press conference in Abuja considered to be the strong hold of Lai Mohammed, that Governor Abdulrazaq is and remains the authentic leader of the party in the state.
They debunked insinuations that Lai Mohammed spoke for them when he commissioned a factional secretariat of the APC in Ilorin, stressing that the embattled Minister did not speak the minds of the party members by stating that “Kwara State under the Abdulrazaq’s administration “entered one-chance.”
The senators insisted that all the money realized by the APC in the state to prosecute the 2019 elections were judiciously utilized under the leadership of Abdulrazak.
They also said that the revalidation and registration of APC members in the state would soon start to enable those who had yet to register, do so before the state party’s congress.
