Kwara Palace Raid: Terrorists Threaten To Marry Off Emir’s Wives Over Ransom Delay

Terrorists that stormed Yashikira palace in Kwara State on May 24, 2026 and still holding the Emir’s wives and other residents, have threatened that they would forcibly marry off the female captives if their demand for N150m ransom is not paid in accordance with terms of demands.

It was gathered from security sources involved in ongoing rescue operations that the ultimatum came following alleged delays in negotiations as a result of the May 24, midnight attack on the Emir’s palace and Yashikira Police Divisional Headquarters.

Security sources disclosed that the terrorists are demanding N15m per each of the 10 victims and warned through negotiation contacts that; “If the ransom is not paid, they will marry off the Emir’s wives and other female captives to their various commanders”.

The worrisome threat has sent jitters into the spines of members of the community even as security agencies have equally efforts towards rescue operations as residents of Yashikira are seriously afraid for the women’s fate as ransom talks stall.

Another source disclosed that the message which shared with vigilantes and operatives, have further heightened anxiety among families.

Survivors of the raid said that the heavily armed gunmen on motorcycles with automatic weapons overwhelmed officers and men of the Nigeria police on May 24, 2026 owing to their superior firepower.

“The attackers overwhelmed us and proceeded to the palace, where they spent close to an hour abducting victims,” a police officer who survived the attack said.

The deadly terrorists also set the palace ablaze and burnt vehicles that were parked before they left with women and children.

The Police Command in Kwara State later confirmed that at least 10 persons were kidnapped just as parts of the palace was razed.
