With reports currently trending in the nation’s media space, it is certainly not the best of times for the founder of DAAR Communications Limited, owners of Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Ray Power 100.5 FM, Chief Raymond Dokpesi as he is allegedly with the London Police for yet-to-identified reasons.

Speaking on the development, an insider source claimed that the Chairman Emeritus of DAAR Communications was picked up on Sunday at Heathrow Airport in London, the United Kingdom by the Police in an operation that took the Edo-born politician and his associates by surprise.

Multiple reports in Nigeria on Sunday indicated the media mogul and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain was arrested at Heathrow Airport in London but reasons for his arrest were still hazy.

The reports said on arrival at Heathrow Airport, aboard a Lufthansa Flight LH916 from Frankfurt to London, Dokpesi was subsequently whisked away by the Police at Terminal 2.

According to an eyewitness account; “We were on a flight from Frankfurt to London and as we were about to arrive in London, an announcement was made that we should all remain on our seats when the aircraft lands because the Police wanted to conduct an important operation.

“So when we landed minutes later, the UK border agents and officers entered the aircraft and enquired about Raymond Dokpesi. After identifying himself, Chief Dokpesi was immediately escorted out of the plane by the officers who took him away without any further comments. He was wearing an agbada at the time of the arrest.”

As of press time, there was no definite information on the development but only speculations about the possibility of a link with issues that may involve the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Nigeria.
