Maitama Sule Critically Ill, To Be Flown Abroad
BY MUSA SIMON REEF, ABUJA – Former Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Sule, is critically ill.
According to a family source, arrangements have been completed to fly the retired diplomat to Egypt for medical attention.
The source said the elder statesman’s health “took a frightening dimension early this week with close family members keeping vigil to manage him. The Danmasanin Kano was immediately transferred to an undisclosed health facility in Kano.
“But on closer examination, the doctors that attended to him recommended foreign medical treatment. So, necessary arrangements have been concluded to transfer him to Egypt. Any moment from today (Friday), he would be flown to Cairo for further medical treatment.”
On Thursday July 29, 2017, the former Governor of Kano State, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, among other political juggernauts and some state government officials, were at the hospital to visit the ailing retired diplomat.
