Former Attorney General and minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami on Saturday, May 9, 2026, picked the Governorship nomination form of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for Kebbi State.

While picking of the Governorship nomination form, Malami declared that “there will be no retreat and no surrender in the collective struggle to rescue our state”.

With the development, the former Attorney General of the Federation, has boldly entered the 2027 race for the Governorship race for Kebbi State.

Malami, who announced the move on his social media platforms, said he could no longer stay silent as residents contend with insecurity, poverty, and deteriorating public services.

He noted that Kebbi State is currently facing severe governance and humanitarian challenges such as failing healthcare, collapsing education, and persistent bandit attacks.

Malami, who served as Attorney General and Minister of Justice under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari from 2015 to 2023, backed his claims with statistics, saying that more than 67% of children aged 6 to 15 were out of school.

He also said that over 88% lived in multidimensional poverty just as healthcare is in dire crisis, with high maternal mortality in rural areas due to poor access to antenatal and essential services.

The former Attorney General noted that security has taken a nosedive as bandits and kidnappers had forced farmers off their farmland and left businesses operating in fear.

Malami pointedly accused the current administration in the state of misplaced priorities, thus declared a “State of Emergency on Misgovernance” in Kebbi.

He assured that if elected in 2027, he would focus on security, education, healthcare, agriculture, and youth empowerment.

Malami hinged his campaign on accountability, service delivery, and sustainable development, saying; “The era of ineffective leadership and political propaganda must come to an end”.

The former Attorney General appealed to the residents of Kebbi State to join what he termed a mission to rebuild the state and restore prosperity.
