Matawalle Lauds Gov Fintiri, Commissions 347.6kms Rural Roads In Adamawa
BY AUSTIN AJAYI, YOLA – Governor of Zamfara State, Dr Bello Muhammad Matawalle has commended his Adamawa counterpart, Umaru Fintiri for the laudable developmental strides aimed at taking the North East state out the woods and strangling hold of biting poverty.
Matawalle stated this while commissioning about 347.6 kilometers of rural access roads and river crossings traversing the 21 local government areas of Adamawa State.
Flagged off in November 2019 by the Governor Fintiri-led administration, in collaboration with Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP) 2, the road projects are meant to sustain access networks for all rural populations and stimulate economic growth in the state
The commissioning ceremony that held at Kuva Gaya in Hong Local Government Area on Wednesday saw Matawalle praising his colleague for executing the projects which aptly demonstrate his great zeal towards developing the state.
He noted that; “Despite the lean resources in Adamawa state, coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic that affected global economy, Governor Fintiri has been able to execute these laudable projects”, even as he urged the people to continue supporting the administration’s noble objectives of developing the State.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Fintiri said the projects were in fulfilment of his campaign promises to enhance critical economic growth, reduce poverty and provide mobility in rural areas.
He said aside linking over 300 communities with farmlands and schools, the commissioned roads will provide other socio-economic opportunities to the people.
The Governor also assured that all projects being embarked upon would be completed on scheduled before the end of his tenure.
In his remarks, the Speaker, Adamawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Aminu Iya Abbas praised Governor Fintiri for undertaking numerous projects across Adamawa and assured him of the lawmakers’ unflinching support.
Similarly, the State Commissioner of Rural Infrastructure and Community Development, Alhaji Abdullahi Prambe said since coming to office in 2019, over 600 kilometres of access roads have been covered along with 19 river crossings.
For the National Coordinator of (RAMP) 2, represented by Engineer Musa Nimrod, the World Bank has adjudged Adamawa State as the best countrywide in terms of executing (RAMP) projects.
He however urged Governor Fintiri to facilitate surface dressing of the roads to make them durable for the people.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, Project Coordinator of (RAMP) 2 in Adamawa State, Engineer Zubairu Adamu Vandi disclosed that 628 youths were recruited by (RAMP) to maintain all roads constructed across the state.
