Minister Announces Promotion Galore In Aviation Sector

It is all smiles for staff of various agencies in the nation’s aviation industry as the Minister of State, Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika has approved promotions aimed at clearing existing backlogs and motivating the workforce for enhanced industry performance.

The development is part of efforts to reinvigorate and reposition all aviation agencies for efficiency in the belief that a well-motivated personnel would engender effective service delivery and optimum productivity in the sector.

According to Senator Sirika, the approval also covers filling vacancies created due to earlier promotions, retirements and reliefs, as well as boosting staff morale in agencies having been stagnated for quite some time.

By the approval, 13 Deputy General Managers (DGMs) in the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) are now promoted to the rank of General Managers (GMs); while at the Nigerian Metrological Agency (NIMET), three Assistant General Managers are now Deputy General Managers, with a Chief Meteorologist uplifted to the position of Assistant General Manager.

Similarly, nine Deputy General Managers have been promoted to General Managers’ position with a total of thirty-six (36) Assistant General Managers now Deputy General Managers at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

A statement by the Deputy Director, Press and Public Affairs, James A. Odaudu, said the Federal Government has also approved reorganization at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) with inter-agency postings to ensure better productivity and efficiency.

Among the approvals, is the appointment of Mrs Victoria Shin-Aba as the new Airport Manager, Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, a position formally held by Nehemiah Auta now redeployed to the FAAN Headquarters as Deputy General Manager, Operations.

Also, a new Director, Human Resources, Mr Anozie Norris has been appointed for FAAN to replace Hajia Salamatu Eluma redeployed to the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) as Director, Human Resources. There is also a new General Manager, Accounts, Kabir Mohammed in the Authority, just as the FAAN’s Director, Finance and Accounts (FAAN) has been redeployed to the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) in the same capacity with Assistant General Manager, Air Transport Regulations, Hajia Mariam Ismail now moved to the NCAA.

The Minister said all appointments and postings take immediate effect and are expected to galvanize a robust service delivery in the sector in line with set objectives of the present Administration in engendering aviation industry’s reform.
