Misleading Information: EFCC Apologises To Dasuki’s Aide, Col Ashinze
BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – Following the hard knock Justice Gabriel Kolawole of Federal High Court Abuja, gave the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on March 21, 2017 over misleading media information on alleged funds misappropriated in the office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the anti-graft agency has accepted that the misleading media report was as a result of mix up.
The EFCC equally regretted its reference to Colonel Nicholas Ashinze as retired, stressing that it since discovered that he is a serving Colonel in the Nigerian Army.
Justice Kolawole had on March 21, 2017 followig complaint by the defendant directed the EFCC to retract the misleading media information and adjourned further hearing to April 13, 2017.
The Commission in response to Justice Kolawole’s directive, said the error in figure was a mix-up in the body of the release as the headline reflected the correct information.
The EFCC also regretted the reference to Colonel Ashinze as retired saying that it has since discovered that he is a serving Colonel in the Nigerian Army.
