…Says, some dark forces want to destabilse the energy sector

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Dr. Kailani Muhammad has said that immediate challenge before the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government is to show the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele the way out for failing to rise up to the challenges of managing the nation’s monetary policies.

This was as he also said that some dark forces are working behind the scene and sponsoring some disgruntled youths from the northern part of the country to wreak havoc and destabilise the nation’s energy sector and the economy and therefore warned that they must be told in clear language to “stay clear”.

Muhammad, who spoke at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday on the state of the nation, following the protest by some northern youths on Monday against the NNPC, noted that it doesn’t make sense organising senseless protests with a view to cause confusion against the backdrop of engaging Tompolo, an ex-militant to survey and monitor products pipeline in the Niger Delta.

Muhammad particularly decried the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) monetary policies that have led to the devaluation of Naira and therefore called on the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele to rise up to the challenges and provide the needed impetus to make the nation’s economy more robust and prosperous or resign.

Muhammad further said; “It is disgusting, disheartening and unfortunate to see some unscrupulous elements working to retard the nation’s progress because of selfish interest.

“What is explicitly clear is that our security agencies have grossly failed to protect and provide the necessary security to the NNPC facilities, pipelines and other assets as a result of the incessant vandalism and oil theft,” he said.

Muhammad also took a swipe at the state governors resisting the payment of $418million as Paris club refund, saying that the states chief executives are taking the country aback by riding on their personal interests to halt the wheel of progress.

According to him; “Instead of looking inward to make their states a beehive of activities and models for development, the governors choose to chase shadow, forgetting how the Federal Government bailed their states out when most of them were unable to pay workers’ salaries and provide infrastructural development.

“Rather than these State Governors appreciate the Federal Government’s gestures, they are now casting aspersions on the Attorney General of the Federation for making bold step to ensure refund of Paris Club funds they received.

“At the time they collected the funds, the governors were so glad and smiling but, are now frowning their faces at the time of refund

“While these State Governors are expected to promote national interest above primordial interests, yet they have been caught wanting as their actions are working against public interests,” he stressed.
