BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – A heated disagreement over cash turned bloody in Bauchi State, leaving a 45-year-old car washer, Ibrahim Jadda, stone dead.
Ibrahim was stabbed to death by his 40-year-old business partner, Sallau Liman, following a violent argument over how to split the proceeds from a jointly executed job.
The tragedy unfolded when the initial disagreement over the sharing formula rapidly escalated into a physical confrontation, ending with Liman allegedly turning a knife on his colleague.
The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the homicide in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Nafiu Habib, saying that law enforcement officials have already launched a full investigation into the incident, and the suspect, 40-year old Inuwa, popularly called ‘Liman Katagum’ is currently in custody.
SP Habib disclosed that the unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, 22nd October 2026, at about 0830hrs, at a popular car wash in Bauchi Metropolis.
According to eyewitness account, a fierce argument ensued between the suspect and the late Ibrahim over a tag price per vehicle washed, and in the heat of the moment, the suspect allegedly picked a sharp knife and stabbed the victim severally.
Regrettably, efforts to save the victim, Ibrahim proved futile as he was confirmed dead at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi.
Upon receiving the report, ‘A’ Division Operatives immediately swung into action just as credible information revealed that the suspect had fled to his paternal home in Liman Katagum area.
Consequently, the operatives were dispatched after him, and the DPO Liman Katagum Division was alerted to arrest him on sight. The swift synergy paid off, leading to his arrest at Mararraban Liman Katagum.
While the suspect is currently in custody and investigation is ongoing, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed deep concern over the unfortunate incident where a minor misunderstanding over money led to the loss of a precious life.
While condoling with the family of the deceased, the Police boss urged members of the public to manage their anger and resolve disputes through dialogue and other lawful means rather than resorting to violence.
He said the level of provocation notwithstanding, taking a life can never be justified for whatever reason.
Meanwhile, Police sources confirmed that discreet investigation on the unfortunate incident is currently ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi and the suspect would be diligently prosecuted in due course.
