Mrs Ododo To NAWOJ: Play Leading Roles To Eliminate GBV
The Kogi State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), have been charged to play leading roles and take more interest in the awareness and efforts towards elimination of all forms of Violence Against Women and Girls.
Wife of the Governor of Kogi State, Hajiya Sefinat Ododo, who gave the charge when she received in audience members of the Association in her office in Lokoja, stressed the importance of a united front and concerted effort towards addressing gender-based violence (GBV) at the grassroot levels.
While restating her commitment to addressing all forms of violence against Women and Girls in the state, Mrs Ododo called for increased awareness campaigns to remind parents of their crucial roles in fostering strong family bonds.
Mrs Ododo said that her office has already conducted sensitization campaigns across the three senatorial districts in the state, targeting community-level interventions.
She urged women nationwide to support and pray for Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in her efforts to empower women and drive emancipation across the country through her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
Earlier in her remarks, the Chairperson of NAWOJ, Kogi State Chapter, Mrs. Stella Edoka, expressed the Association’s commitment to championing issues affecting women, youth, and children.
Edoka assured of the Association’s readiness to collaborate with the office of the First Lady of Kogi State in the fight against Gender-Based Violence in the State.
