Murder Of Adegoke: Ramon Adedoyin, Two Others To Die By Hanging – Court Rules
A High Court of Osun State sitting in Oshogbo, the State capital, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, sentenced the proprietor of Hilton Hotel and Resort, Ile-Ife, Dr Abdulrahman Adedoyin to death by hanging for the murder of an undergraduate student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, late Timothy Adegoke.
Adedoyin was sentenced to death alongside two others who were also found guilty of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
In the judgment delivered by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Oyebola Ojo, held that proprietor of the hotel and two of his workers, based on the circumstances of the case established by the prosecuting counsel, Femi Falana, SAN, was found culpable of conspiracy to commit murder and unlawful killing of the Timothy Adegoke.
The court specifically found Adedoyin and three of his staff members guilty of murder and conspiracy.
Justice Ojo held that circumstantial evidence confirmed that Adedoyin and his staff members killed Timothy Adegoke and tried to conceal the crime.
Justice Ojo further ruled that Adedoyin shall first serve a term of 10 years in prison before the death sentence is executed.
Late Timothy Adegoke, who was an undergraduate student for a Master of Business Administration (MBA), had travelled from Abuja to Ile-Ife to write his examination and lodged in Hilton hotel but was later declared missing by the police on November 7, 2021 following an alarm raised by his wife.
A few days later, the Osun State police command issued a statement disclosing that the 37-year-old student was found dead without giving details of the circumstances that led to his death and how he was found.
