Following the resolve of Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for a Muslim-Muslim ticket, a chieftain of the party, Daniel Bwala, has resigned his membership of the party.

Bwala, a lawyer is the Special Adviser on Legal and Constitutional Matters to the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege,

He said that his decision to quit the APC was as a result of the decision of the ruling Party to settle for a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket in the forthcoming 2023 election.

Tinubu had announced former Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2023 General Elections, saying that his choice of Shettima was based on merit, capability, ability in addition to his outstanding credentials for the election, and not consideration for religion and other primordial considerations.

But, few hours after Tinubu announced Shettima as his vice presidential candidate, Bwala took to his Twitter handle and announced his resignation from the APC.

His tweet states: “Tonight I officially resigned my membership of @OfficialAPCNg on principles and conviction that I hold so dear.

“At this time of our national existence, our efforts and energy should gravitate towards uniting our people,” he stressed.

Bwala had in the past defended some of th policies, actions and inactions of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration but find it difficult to swallow the Muslim-Muslim ticket adopted by Tinubu.
