Mutfwang, Dogara, Gana, Others, At Late Gen. Useni’s Funeral Service Mass

BY UKANDI ODEY, IN LANGTANG – Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of Plateau State was part of the cream of the society and political stalwarts that attended the funeral service of late military officer, and politician, Lt-General Jeremiah Timbut Useni, which held at COCIN RCC Headquarters, in Langtang on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

With four officiating clergies, the funeral service which saw the cathedral filled beyond capacity, also had personalities as former speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Yakubu Dogara, former Ministers of the federal republic that included, Prof. Jerry Gana, Dem Pauline Tallen, Mr Labaran Maku, former deputy governor of Nasrawa State, Mike Abdul, delegations from Delta, Benue States, and military personnel also attending.

In a sermon, one of the officiating clergies, Bishop Josiah Idowu Fearon described the late General Useni as one who lived more than a public servant, saying he had a large heart and practised life full of generosity and selflessness.

Bishop Fearon recalled that the late Useni did a lot to entrench and enhance the growth of the Church, and for this the Church remains grateful to him.

He also described the death of Useni as that of “a man of faith and mercy” which should serve as a reminder and call on all believers and Christians to always be prepared and ready for God’s call.

In Jos tribute, Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, described the late General Useni as a patriot who lived all his life to save Nigeria and keep the country united.

Speaking during the Church service, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang conveyed the condolences of former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida to the people of Plateau State, and conveyed the warmth and appreciation of the government and people of Plateau State to all who contributed towards the burial, made sacrifices and participated in his burial.

Mutfwang said the last part of the life of the late Useni promoted the virtues of forgiveness and reconciliation. Accordingly, he called on all to imbibe these virtues, seek reconciliation with God, and hope that great things will happen in Plateau State.

He prayed that all humans should end well in life.
