My Certificates Are Genuine And Unquestionable – Dr Dankaka, Chairman- FCC

BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hajia Muheeba Dankaka has said that she obtained her Masters degree in 1989 before she got married which necessitated the change of name.

Dr Dankaka, who stated this while responding to claims by the Youth and Leadership Initiative Group (LYGEL) regarding to the name on her certificate and the present name she bears, said that it is not unexpected that when a woman gets married, she takes her husband’s name and her case is not and cannot be different.

The FCC Chairman therefore urged members of the public to discountenance the ill-conceived allegations leveled against her person which are totally incorrect and not factual.

A statement by the Special Assistant on General Services, of the Federal Character Commission, Mr Abdullahi Adamu Idris, stated that the Agency is not unmindful of the plot by some forces championing a well-coordinated and richly funded campaign against the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Dankaka.

The FCC further stated that it also aware that the Youth and Leadership Initiative Group is fronting for detractors Dr Dankaka, who are bent on truncating the reform mandate of President Muhammadu Buhari at the Commission being one of the most important agencies of government which the Chairman is vigorously pursuing.

In the words of Abdullahi; “To set the record straight, it is not unexpected that when a woman gets married, she takes her husband’s name and the case of Dr Muheeba Dankaka is not different.

“The general public should note that as against the allegation by LYGEL, Dr Muheeba Dankaka obtained her Masters degree in 1989 before she got married which necessitated the change of name.

“We are glad that the Group at the press conference did not claim that the certificate in question does not belong to the Executive Chairman of FCC (it only claimed that the name is different from what she bears now).

“It is however surprising that the group did not deem it necessary to find out either by physical request or relying on the FOI Act on what necessitated the change of name.

“We therefore put it to LYGEL and their sponsors that no amount of campaign of calumny and other mischiefs will distract Dr Muheeba Dankaka on her resolve to deliver the mandate bestowed on her by President Muhammadu Buhari,” he said.

Abdullahi said that President Buhari did not make a mistake when he appointed Dr Muheeba Dankaka as the Executive Chairman of the Commission in March 2020 to spearhead the required reforms, stressing that her appointment shows that the President also underscored the direction of the new Nigeria: a nation where mediocrity will no longer find space; a nation where the patriotic and incorruptible citizens will be harnessed to re-work a new Nigeria.

Our attention has been drawn to a malicious press conference granted by a group called the Youth and Leadership Initiative Group (LYGEL) wherein it alleged that the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hajia Muheeba Dankaka OON presented ‘questionable certificates’ for her confirmation as the Chairman of the Commission.

While we may not want to be seen as joining issues with the sponsored group, it is important to lay out the facts in the interest of the general public that may have been misled by the spurious allegations brought up by the group.

To begin with, we are not unmindful of the plot by some forces championing a well-coordinated and richly funded campaign against the Executive Chairman.
