NCC Boosts Healthcare With E-Health Innovation To Enhance Patient Care

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), on Thursday, May 29, 2025, took a bold and decisive step toward boosting healthcare in Nigeria with the commissioning of an e-Health project at the State Specialist Hospital, situated in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

While commissioning the project, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, emphasised the commitment of the Commission to leverage on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) towards enhancing medical services across the country.

The NCC boss noted that integrating advanced ICT solutions into healthcare would improve accessibility, streamline medical processes, and enhance patient care, adding that the

initiative aligned with the Commission’s broader drive to deepen Nigeria’s participation in the digital economy.

Maida further said; “With the successful take-off of this project, we anticipate a significant boost in the adoption of e-health solutions nationwide.

“By equipping healthcare facilities with innovative technology, we are ensuring timely and accurate diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care, ultimately leading to better patient satisfaction and improved health outcomes,” he stated.

The NCC Executive Vice chairman commended stakeholders, technology experts and government officials, for their contributions to the project, saying that their collaboration helped created a model that could be replicated across different regions.

The e-Health initiative, according to Dr Maida is expected to set a precedent for similar projects nationwide by ensuring that modern healthcare solutions reach all citizens, regardless of their location.

With the inauguration of the project, the Commission has further reaffirmed its commitment to fostering innovation, supporting digital integration, and driving national development through ICT-enabled solutions.
