NCDC Reports 543 New COVID-19 Cases, Puts Nigeria’s Tally At 38,344
BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed that 543 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) dotted the country’s landscape on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, taking the national tally to 38,344 cases.
According to statistics published on its verified Twitter handle late Wednesday night, the NCDC said eight (8) deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, thereby taking the fatality figure to 813 deaths recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory since the pandemic broke out in the country
In highlighting its reports for the day, the NCDC said: “On the 22nd of July 2020, 543 new confirmed cases and 8 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
“Till date, 38,344 cases have been confirmed, 15,815 cases have been discharged and 813 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)”
Also from the Centre’s breakdown of the 543 new cases reported from 15 states of the federation, Lagos returned to the pinnacle of daily infection figures with 180 cases followed by FCT at 86 and Kaduna with 56 cases.
Others include: Edo – (47), Ondo – (37), Kwara – (35), Ogun – (19), Rivers – (19), Kano – (17), Ebonyi – (16) Enugu – (16), Delta – (7), Bayelsa – (4), Bauchi – (3), and Abia – (1)
