The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has partnered with Nile University’s Nile Business School to advance talent development and stronger industry-academia cooperation through the Executive Industry Immersion Challenge (EIIC) programme.

Managing Director and Chief Executive of the NDIC, Mr. Thompson Oludare Sunday said the initiative is strategic in addressing the widening gap between the academia and the business community in the country.

Mr Sunday, who spoke at the opening ceremony of the four-day EIIC programme at the Corporation’s headquarters in Abuja, said today’s fast-shifting global marketplace demands a new breed of professionals, who can seamlessly bridge the gap between academic theory and the grit of real-world corporate execution

According to him: “The Executive Industry Immersion Challenge has provided the NDIC with the opportunity of a practical platform to expose participants to real-world experience in policy formulation, institutional governance, and public sector management.”

He said as a critical financial safety-net institution, NDIC is committed to the promotion of financial system stability and enhancement of depositor confidence in the financial system.

A statement by Hawwau Gambo, NDIC Head, Communication and Public Affairs Department, said the Managing Director also challenged the University’s executive MBA students to adopt the programme’s core values as their blueprint for effective leadership and national development.

Further stressing the imperative of theoretical knowledge and practical insight within the corporate world, Mr Sunday said institutions can only command public confidence when their actions consistently reflect honesty, sound ethical conduct, good governance and transparency.

Also speaking, the Programme’s Project Coordinator for NDIC and Director, Research, Policy and International Relations Department, Mr. Ibrahim Aliyu, explained that the EIIC had been consciously designed as an experiential learning initiative aimed at bridging the gap between theory and industry practice.

For the Dean of Nile Business School, Professor Hauwa Lamido, NDIC was the natural choice for this Industry Immersion Programme, noting that the decision was inspired by the institution’s deeply rooted legacy of transparency, integrity, exceptional professionalism, and sound corporate governance across the nation’s financial landscape.

Professor Lamido, who was represented by a senior faculty member, Dr. Festus Ekechi assured that the School would take conscious steps toward integrating all the learning points from the exercise into its curriculum with a view to ensuring practical application the knowledge by the participants in their places of work.
