NDIC Wins IT Award For Best Performing Agency
BY COBHAM NSA, ABUJA – The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has added another feather to its improved service delivery status as the best performing public sector institution on Information Technology Clearance Regulation compliance in the country.
The award conferment came against the backdrop of a rigorous selection process conducted by the Nigeria Technology Development Agency (NITDA) as promoters of IT regulation and development in Nigeria.
NITDA instituted the awards as part of efforts to encourage and stimulate growth within Nigeria’s ICT eco-system.
Receiving the award on behalf of NDIC at the dinner and award night organized to round off the 2018 edition of e-Nigeria Conference in Abuja, Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Corporation, Umaru Ibrahim, assured that NDIC will continue to enhance its IT systems to facilitate its service delivery in deposit insurance and safety of the country’s financial industry.
He also pledged the Corporation commitment to improved processes in achieving its statutory mandate of Deposit Guarantee, Bank Supervision, Failure Resolution and Bank Liquidation.
The NDIC boss thanked the management of NITDA for the recognition, with the assurance that the Corporation would be encouraged to redouble its efforts towards excellent performance in all its operations, especially in the face of emerging block-chain technology with its attendant challenges and opportunities.
According to a statement signed by Mohammed Kudu Ibrahim, NDIC’s Head, Communication and Public Affairs, the ceremony, which took place at Abuja International Conference Center on November 6, 2018, is a new addition to the series of award already won by the Corporation.
The NDIC had in May this year received certification from the British Standard Institute (BSI) on Information Security Management (ISO/IEC 27001:2013); IT Service Management System (ISO/IEC 200001:2011); and the Business Continuity Management System ISO/22301: 2012), thereby becoming the first public sector organization in Nigeria to receive all three certifications concurrently.
