According to the eyewitnesses’ accounts, the Police followed him back to Gibbs street where the incident took place and also fired several gunshots into the air to scare away the agitated crowd.

It was gathered that when the victim died, the said armed men allegedly rushed the suspect out of the hospital premises by shooting into the air to save him from being lynched by angry members of the public

Described by those that know him as ‘son of a late wealthy pastor’, who was deported from abroad on account of criminality, Akpaniko is alleged to have been indebted to Ephraim and in refusing to settle the debt, also threatened to harm him (deceased) if he dare to bring up the money issue again.

The reports further stated that on the fateful day, Ephraim reportedly met Akpaniko for his money; only to be tricked to wait for him to get it. He then allegedly entered an unregistered Lexus; and drove it with speed against the helpless victim, knocking him down in the process.

For now, Akpaniko is allegedly on the run with the Police yet to officially release a statement on the matter or the suspect’s whereabouts.
