BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) late on Friday night reported 443 new infections of coronavirus (COVID-19) as confirmed figures in the country rose to 45,687 cases
According to the Centre, reports across Nigeria in the last 24 hours also showed six deaths were recorded, taking the fatality numbers to 936 deaths in all 36 states and the FCT.
The NCDC further reported via its verified Twitter handle the cheering news of increasing numbers of successfully treated and discharged patients that have now risen to 32,637 cases nationwide.
The Centre said: “On the 7th of August 2020, 443 new confirmed cases and 6 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.
“Till date, 45,687 cases have been confirmed, 32,637 cases have been discharged and 936 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory
On the 443 new cases that were reported from 19 states of the federation, the NCDC’s statistics indicated that Plateau state emerged the surprised leader on the daily infections’ chart with 103 confirmed cases, followed by Lagos at 70 and FCT with 60.
Others captured are: Ondo – (35), Edo – (27), Rivers – (27), Kaduna – (20), Osun – (19), Borno – (18), Oyo – (18), Kwara – (11), Adamawa – (9), Nasarawa – (7), Gombe – (6), Bayelsa – (4), Imo – (4), Bauchi – (2), Ogun – (2) and Kano – (1)
