NJC Appoints CJN’s Son, 22 Others Federal High Court Judges
The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended Olukayode Ariwoola Junior, son of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, for appointment as a Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria.
Alongside 22 other judges, Ariwoola Junior was recommended for the Federal High Court bench after passing the screening and interview conducted by the Council.
A statement by the NJC’s Director of Information, Soji Oye, in Abuja on Friday, said also recommended for appointment are one Grand Kadi for Kaduna State, and four Kadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal in Kano, adding that the new appointments were announced at the 103rd meeting of the NJC presided over by the CJN, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
On the list of those recommended as Federal High Court Judges are Ekerete Udofot Akpan, Hussaini Dadan-Garba, Egbe Raphael Joshua, Ogundare Kehinde Olayiwola, Onah Chigozie Sergius, Anyalewa Onoja-Alapa, Amina Aliyu Mohammed, Sharon Tanko Ishaya, and Chituru Joy Wigwe-Oreh.
Others include Aishatu Auta Ibrahim, Ogazi Friday Nkemakonam, Hauwa Buhari, Ibrahim Ahmad Kala, Hauwa Joeph Yilwa, Ariwoola Olukayode Jnr, Abdullahi Muhammad Dan-Ige and Mashkur Salisu.
Also listed for appointments are Musa Kakaki, Dipeolu Deinde Isaac, Owoeye Alexander Oluseyi, Abiodun Jordan Adeyemi, Agbaje Olufunmilola Adetutu, and Salim Olasupo Ibrahim.
A statement, which further indicated that Hon. Kadi Muhammad Aminu Danjuma is recommended to serve as Grand Kadi for Kaduna State, said those to enjoy elevation as Kadis for Kano State Sharia Court of Appeal are Muhammad Adam Kadem, Aliyu Muhammad Kani, Salisu Muhammad Isa, and Isa Idris Sa’id.
According to the NJC Spokesperson, all recommended candidates will be sworn in only after the approval of the Council’s recommendations to the President. They are also expected to receive endorsement from their respective State Governors as well as confirmation by the various State Houses of Assembly as the case may be.
