The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd on Saturday, February 15, 2025, described as baseless and entirely unfounded the assertion contained in a trending video that its fuel does not last.
The NNPC Ltd noted that the misleading video represented yet another desperate attempt by economic saboteurs to misinform the public and tarnish its reputation and therefore warned that it would not tolerate deliberate misinformation designed to undermine its operations and mislead Nigerians.
The NNPC Ltd stressed that the entire content of the video was “false and misleading,” stressing that the video originated from unverified and amateur research that lacked credibility, accuracy, and professional oversight.
A statement by Mr Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the NNPC Ltd, reaffirmed that the Corporation’s fuel is carefully formulated with one of the best compositions, ensuring optimal efficiency, durability, and environmental sustainability for consumers.
Soneye further said that it was important to emphasize that a significant percentage of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) sold at NNPC retail stations in Lagos—where this deceptive video was created—is sourced from the Dangote Refinery, a strategic partner in promoting local production and energy security.
In the words of Soneye; “Dangote Refinery adheres to strict industry standards, guaranteeing the quality of petroleum products supplied to our consumers.
“Henceforth, NNPC Ltd will take firm legal action against individuals or groups who intentionally spread falsehoods about our brand and operations. Those engaged in such malicious activities will be held fully accountable under the law,” it warned.
The NNPC Ltd urged the public to disregard such fabricated content and rely on verified sources for accurate information, saying that it remain steadfast in its mission to ensure fuel availability, affordability, and quality for all Nigerians while maintaining global industry standards.
