‘No Need For Breaks’ – Jose Mourinho
Eyes new job after Tottenham sack
Not ready to dwell in self-pity over his dismissal by Tottenham Hotspur, underperforming Jose Mourinho has expressed eagerness to prove that he still remains an elite football manager despite recent stumbles in the round leather game.
Flashing a smile to obviously subdue the pains of what has now become an unfortunate signature tune in his last four managerial jobs, the Portuguese said he has no intention of fading from the spotlight after his much a anticipated sack by Tottenham.
Insisting there is “no need for breaks”, the embattled Mourinho appeared in good spirits at an impromptu interview near his car on Monday after the news broke out.
According to him, rather than spending time ruminating over recent setbacks, he would be back in the dugout soon.
Mourinho exited Tottenham with the club placed seventh on the Premier League log and set to face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on April 25, 2021.
Securing a trophy of any kind has been top priority for Tottenham, but Mourinho will not be around to see out that mission with contract to 2023 now ripped up
What has been said?
When asked by Sky Sports whether he felt unfairly treated, Mourinho parried the question and instead settled for an indirect response thus; “You know me. I’m not going to say anything.”
However, the man, who has at different times referred to himself as the ‘Special One’; ‘Chosen One’; and ‘Only One’, said he was more interested in what the future holds for him.
In very unmistakable terms about his future moves, Mourinho dismissed thoughts of a potential vacation, saying; “No need for breaks or recharged batteries. I’m always in football.”
Mourinho’s Tottenham record
Jose recorded the lowest winning percentage (51%) of his managerial career since his time as the inexperienced boss of Uniao de Leiria in 2001. Sadly, his final month at Tottenham included a Europa League collapse vs Dinamo Zagreb.
Still, his work taking Spurs to the Carabao Cup final this year counts as a bright spot amid a difficult season, and his prior success at other clubs should allow him plenty of opportunities to manage elsewhere.
Interestingly, the loquacious Portuguese may have entered the record books as the most sacked soccer gaffer, four dismissals in a spate of eight years. In his last four jobs as a manager, he has been sent packing by Real Madrid; Chelsea; Manchester United; and now Tottenham.
