No Reneging On Robust Energy Security – NDPHC Boss Assures

Accordingly, there will be concentration of efforts at ensuring that stakeholders engagement is taking to a new level that guarantees improved nationwide power supply.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Engineer Jennifer Adighije, who gave the assurance in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, said energy security remains a cardinal programme that will enjoy priority attention from the government.
Engineer Adighije, who was on an inspection visit to the Calabar Power Plant owned by NDPHC, said the government would do everything possible to achieve the highest level of power generation as part of efforts to engender socio-economic development and growth in the country.
The NDPHC Boss further stated that; “There is a linkage between adequate power supply and socio-economic development and NDPHC is available to help the states in a transparent and legal manner”, even as she stressed; “Mr president is vividly committed toward achieving energy security as the sector is the key driving force in ensuring the success of the renewed hope agenda”.
On the policy direction of NDPHC’s new management team, Engr Adighije said the task is to recalibrate the company towards becoming the biggest integrated power firm with a pride of place in Nigeria’s electricity industry.
She further said following the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC)’s directives that Electricity Distribution Companies sign bilateral agreements with generation companies, the NDPHC was ready with adequate electricity supply to entities, including business clusters and other users.
Briefing the Engineer Adighije-led new management on their operations, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Calabar Generation Company, Engineer Bex Ayoade, solicited government’s support to ensure the power plant is given International standard organization (ISO) certification to promote its management in accordance with global best practices within the sector.
On existing and emerging challenges facing the company, Engineer Ayoade pleaded that attention should be focused on improved staff welfare through prompt payment of salaries and the unification of salary incremental structure among the various workers operating in the plant.
Additionally, he said decentralising the procurement of consumables like tools and spare parts would enhance efficient service delivery by the power generating company.
