BY EDMOND ODOK – Veteran Nollywood actor and member of the now disbanded All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Zack Orji is lying critically ill at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) unit of the National Hospital in Abuja.
Reports indicated that the 63 years old actor was rushed to the hospital on Friday after collapsing in his Abuja residence.
A video shared by Lindaikejiblog early on Sunday morning, showed the veteran Nollywood star bedridden and clearly writhing in pain.
According to the report, he slumped in the toilet after feeling very weak for some days and was hospitalised two days ago with competent sources saying that he is currently undergoing series of tests to ascertain the nature of his sickness.
Insiders among those who took him to the hospital, hinted that Zack has not been able to walk or talk since this ailment began and Nigerians are being enjoined to earnestly pray for his quick recovery.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abubakar Yakubu, who confirmed the development, however said details about Zack’s health status are still sketchy at the moment.
This is as he also assured that the Guild fully supports the veteran actor and notify the public of any further developments.
Yakubu said; “It is true. He is currently in the hospital. They are running tests on him”.
Close family sources, who claimed that Zack has been battling with fatigue for weeks, said; “Zack sincerely needs our prayers because currently he is unable to talk or move.”
Already, his fans, colleagues and well-wishers have taken to his Instagram page to express their best wishes.
A prominent name in the Nigerian film industry, Zack Orji is renowned for his roles in films like ‘The Bridge’, ‘Glamour Girls’, and ‘Blood Money’ among numerous others.
Beyond acting, the veteran actor, who has starred in several movies throughout his career, is also a director and film producer.
Appointed a director of performing arts for the now defunct Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023, he is married to Ngozi Orji and they are blessed with three children.
