A former presidential aspirant of the Labour Party (LP), Faduri Oluwadare Joseph, has urged the party to look northward for the next National Chairman with Julius Abure now out of the way.

Joseph, who canvassed this position at the Labour Party National Executive Council (NEC) and Stakeholders meeting held on Wednesday, 9th April 2025 in Abuja, such arrangement will promote fairness and justice within the party.

Speaking through Reverend Emmanuel Olorunmagba, his representative him at the meeting, Joseph, who is a United States-based Nigerian Nurse and also leader of Rescue Movement for New Nigeria (RMNN), said equity demands that with a southerner as a presidential candidate, the North should automatically mount the saddle as the Party’s Chairman.

The ex-presidential aspirant while expressing delight that the issue of Barrister Julius Abure has finally been laid to rest, congratulated Senator Nenadi Usman for fully taking charge as the Chairman of the Party’s Caretaker Committee.

He stated thus; “It’s obvious that the next presidential candidate of the Labour Party will definitely come from the South, and it will not be good for both the National Chairman and the Presidential Candidate to come from the south.

“Justice and equity demand that if we have a southerner as a presidential candidate, then the national chairman should come from the north.

“This is the best opportunity we have as Labour Party to right the wrong and properly reposition the party ahead of 2027.”

Urging the Senator Nenadi-led Caretaker Committee to immediately take full charge of the party, Joseph admonished thus; “Nigerians have reposed so much confidence in us, we can’t afford to fail the country”.

The recent landmark judgment of the Supreme Court sacking Barrister Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the party has continued to trigger waves of interpretations among different stakeholders within the nation’s opposition party.
