BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – The Northeast geo-political zone is most backward in virtually all sectors of life, hence the need to give chance to the person who will address the plight of the people based on his experience in and out of public service.

Former deputy Senate Leader, Abdul Ahmed Ningi, who stated this this, noted that as far as the presidency of the country is concerned. Atiku Abubakar remains the best man to lead the country following his vast knowledge in the country’s economy and political experience.

Ningi said that Atiku stand as one of the few politicians that would be able to lead the country out of its current woes and other challenges yet to be addressed by the present government.

Speaking as the Chairman of a dinner programme organised by the North-East Atiku Support Groups supported by the Atiku Support Organisation (ASO) aimed at encouraging youth participation in politics ahead of the 2023 general elections, Ningi said Atiku Abubakar remains the best political leader in the country that can be trusted with the leadership of the country come 2023.

Ningi challenged the people of the North East zone to consider their own and give him the needed political support for his presidential aspiration come 2023.

In his own remarks, the Guest Speaker at the event, Dr Sani Ahmed, who spoke about Enhancing Youth Participation in Politics, said that youth participation in politics is very important considering the current political climate in the country.

He noted that while the country’s population is about 200 million, youths constitute 60 per cent which is a very large number thus easier for them to choose the right candidate.

Ahmed said that during the last general elections, over 60 per cent of the youth registered but only 30 per cent voted, saying that youth are energetic and can endure hardship.

He said; “Let them use the advantage they have and get in to the nook and crannies of the region and enlighten the public on the need for voting the right leader”.

The Director General of the Atiku Support Organizations (ASO), Alhaji Abubakar Babawo explained that the programme was not a campaign but a call and plea on Atiku Abubakar to come out and contest again in 2023.

Chief host of the event, Dr Babayo Ishiyaku said that the group is promoting the political vision and aspirations of Atiku Abubakar, who he described as an astute politician with what it takes to be the President of Nigeria considering his vast experience garnered over the years.
