Chief Odigie-Oyegun slams Comrade Oshiomhole

BY EDMOND ODOK, ABUJA – With expectations running high on the peaceful resolution of the crisis currently rocking the Edo State House of Assembly, former National chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has warned his successor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, to desist from meddling in the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki in the overall interest of good governance in the South-South State.

Chief Odigie-Oyegun said it has become imperative to caution the National Chairman against the public embarrassment that his actions are presently causing the governing party and Edo State in particular.

In a statement by his Public Affairs Adviser, Ray Murphy in Abuja on Sunday, the former National Chairman said the time to call Oshiomhole to order is now because his continued intrusiveness is portaying the State in bad light.

The statement said; “I appeal to him (Oshiomhole) to stop disgracing the governing party, APC and Edo State. He should give the governor a breathing space to concentrate in doing the job of serving the people of Edo.”

Urging Comrade Oshiomhole to reciprocate the goodwill he enjoyed during his eight-year tenure, Chief Odigie-Oyegun said; “I wonder how he could easily forget that I never interfered or bothered about how he ran the government as the then governor of Edo, all the while I occupied the position of the party’s National chairman.

“I am yet to come to terms with why it has become difficult for Oshiomhole to realise that Obaseki is the only APC governor in the entire South-South. And he should be allowed to concentrate in giving the people of Edo the dividends of democracy.’’

Odigie-Oyegun however challenged the Progressives Governors Forum to support and defend their counterpart against external aggression, saying it is inconsiderate of them to stay aloof and watch a fellow governor being distracted by the Party Chairman whose actions are capable of causing political misfortune for APC in Edo State.

Further driving home his point, the former Edo State governor said; “I also appeal to the Progressives Governors not to stand aside and watch their fellow governor hampered by a party chairman whose actions may lead to political misfortune of the party in the state.” – NAN
