Offa Bank Robbery: Police Arrest More Deadly Suspects

BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – The Nigeria Police high command on Friday said it would leave no stone unturned in unravelling the bank armed robbery dastardly act in Offa, Kwara State with a view to bring all those responsible to justice.

This is just as the Force expressed appreciation for the support it has so far received from members of the public thus called for calm and cooperation to sustain the normalcy that has been restored in the State.

The Police also deeply commiserated with the Government and People of Kwara State, most especially the people of Offa and the families of the victims for the bank robbery that took place in the town of Offa, Kwara State.

The position of the police was contained in a statement issued by its Force Public Relations officer, ACP Jimoh Moshood in which he gave an update into the investigation and trail of the perpetrators of the Offa Banks robbery which took place on April 5, 2018.

Moshood said that so far, the Police has arrested 12 additional suspects in connection with the Offa Banks robbery as well as recovered Handsets, Ipads and SIM cards belonging to victims of the robbery.

The police spokesman gave the arrested suspects to include ; Adegoke Shogo 29years of age and a native of Offa, Kwara State, who was arrested in Offa after the bank robbery and the attack on the Police Station.

The Police said he is drug baron and an Indian Hemp dealer in Offa Kwara State. It added that according to intelligence gathered from cultivated and reliable informant, he is alleged to be one of the sponsors of the robbery attack and the Police Station in Offa, adding that he has made useful statements to the roles he played in the armed robbery.

The second suspect is Kayode Opadokun 35years old and also a native of Offa, Kwara State, who was found out to have been released from Prison three months ago after serving eight months of his sentence years for Armed Robbery. The Police said the notorious Armed Robber and confirmed Gang member of the Offa Bank Robbers was caught in possession of a Barrette pistol and six rounds of live ammunition and has admitted to the criminal roles he played in the Offa Banks robbery.

Also on the list of arrested suspects is Kazeem Abdulrasheed 36yearrs from Offa, Kwara State, who is a Gang member from whom a Victim’s phone was found and was arrested in Offa just as 27years Azeez Abdullahi also a native of Offa, Kwara State, identified as a Gang member from whom a Victim’s Phone and SIM Cards were recovered.

Similarly, Alexander Reuben, who is 39-year old and a native of Isoko Local Government Area of Delta state, is known by the police to be a notorious, deadly and hardened bank robber from whom GMPGs, Rocket launchers and Several Rifles were recovered in 2015, but was released from Prison in December 2017. Reuben was arrested on the April 11, 2018 in Lagos, while his accomplice, 28-year old Jimoh Isa, a native of Okene, Kogi State indicted by Technical intelligence generated on the Bank Robbers, was also arrested on the April 11, 2018 in Lagos.

Moshood further said that the three other suspects namely Azeez Salawudeen 20yrs, Adewale Popoola 22yrs and Adetoyese Muftau 23yrs from whom Two (2) phones and SIM cards belonging to victims were recovered have also made confessional statements admitting to the various roles they played in the commission of the crime.

He also said; “Aminu Ibrahim 18yrs – Arrested in Ilorin, Richard Buba Terry 23yrs and Peter Jaba Kuunfa 25yrs. These three suspects in whose possession another Beretta pistol and 14 rounds of live ammunitions were recovered were arrested in connection with the Offa bank robbery.

“They have previously been investigated and charged to court for armed robbery and cultism. They have made confessional statements admitting to the various criminal roles they played in the recent bank robbery in Offa.
