BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi has formally dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) and picked a membership card of the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the State Governorship election slated for October 10, 2020.

His resignation from following months of frosty relationships between him and his principal, the governor of the State, has therefore put paid to speculations of his unwillingness to continue with Governor Akeredolu.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi have been at logger heads over the manner and style of administration the governor has been running the State.

Ajayi, before picking a PDP membership card, resigned his membership of the APC at his Ward 2, Apoi, Ese Odo Local Government Area of the state.

Plans have already been concluded for his official defection to the PDP on Monday in Akure preparatory to his contesting the governorship ticket of the party.

In his letter of resignation, Ajayi thanked the APC in the state for the opportunity granted him to serve and wished the party well in its future endeavours.

The Deputy Governor later told journalists during a brief chat saying; “I just tendered my resignation as a member of the APC to the chairman of this Ward and also to the chairman of Ese-Odo APC.

“Both of them are here. We pray that by the grace of God, Apoi Ward 2 will witness more development and progress.”
