BY CHINYERE OBIORA, LAGOS – The Lagos Police Command on Tuesday announced that three students of Dowen College have been arrested in connection with the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr.

Confirming the development, Lagos Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, said the three students already in Police custody are among the five suspects, while two of them are currently at large.

However, the Police Chief, who did not mention the suspects’ names, said they are already assisting the Command as investigations continue on the case.

According to reports, Sylvester Oromoni had before his death named five senior students allegedly responsible for inflicting multiple internal injuries on him during the attack inside the Dowen College vicinity that eventually led to his untimely death.

Also, the late student’s father had insisted that his child was beaten and fed a liquid chemical which led to his death, a claim which the school authorities dismissed, alleging that the deceased sustained injuries while playing football with his colleagues.

In the wake of the unfortunate incident, the Lagos State government ordered the indefinite closure of the school, even as the State Police Command commenced investigation into the matter.

Also, over 100,000 persons have reportedly signed petitions demanding the prosecution of all those involved in perpetrating the sad incident.
