Ortom Visits Buhari In Aso Rock Villa

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Tuesday visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja in connection with the recent attack on his life by unknown gunmen.

Speaking with State House Correspondents after the brief meeting, Governor Ortom said he was pleased with the President’s reaction concerning the development.

According to him, the State House visit witnessed exchanged of thoughts with Mr President on how best the unpleasant occurrence and the crisis arising thereof could be managed in the overall interest of the country.

Governor Ortom had claimed the attack was carried out by about 15 gunmen who are suspected herdsmen during a visit to his farm.

With the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) describing as “shocking and a rude awakening” the attempt to kill one of them, there has been so much rumpus and outbursts in the polity as many groups and well-meaning individuals have spoken in condemnation of the incident.

Disturbed by the unfortunate incident, the President had on Sunday ordered security agencies to undertake an “open and transparent” investigation into the attack.
