Senator Adams Oshiomhole representing Edo North in the National Assembly on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, acted an unscripted drama at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport for missing his flight to Abuja.
It was gathered that Oshiomhole had made contacts with some of the management staff of the Airline and requested them to delay the flight, but was turned down owing to directives from the NCAA to airlines to adhere to scheduled flight time for the sake of passengers.
Accordingly, the former governor of Edo State was politely told on arrival at the check-in counter that he had missed his flight which departed before his arrival.
However, Oshiomhole would not accept the fact that he missed his scheduled flight to Abuja even as he was quite aware that he turned up very late for the flight.
Oshiomhole thereafter caused a temporary disruption of operations at the terminal.
It was gathered that Oshiomhole, who arrived for the scheduled 6:30am flight, was politely told that he arrived late and could therefore not board.
An eyewitness said Oshiomhole’s actions caused further delays and frustration for other passengers.
Reacting to the unfortunate development, Air Peace, condemned in very strong terms the disruptive actions of Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who caused major disturbances at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (Zulu Hall) on Wednesday morning.
In a statement, the management of Air Peace noted the unruly conduct of Oshiomhole, who disrupted airport operations on the morning of Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
Air Peace noted that Oshiomhole arrived at the terminal at approximately 06:10 AM for Flight P47120, which was scheduled to depart Lagos for Abuja at 06:30 AM.
The Airline explained that it swiftly activated contingency measures to minimize the fallout and inconvenience as well as activated operational contingency plan to board affected passengers through an alternate terminal, ensuring the continuity of their travel plans.
The airline therefore expressed dismay over the incident, especially given Senator Oshiomhole’s stature.
The statement further said; “We are deeply saddened that such a high-profile figure displayed conduct so unbecoming and disruptive to fellow passengers and our personnel.
“Air Peace maintains a zero-tolerance stance on violence or any form of aggression against our staff and passengers. We urge all guests, to remain civil and cooperative at all times,” it said.
While reiterating its commitment to operational integrity, Air Peace emphasized the importance of adhering to aviation protocols.
It said; “Aviation operations are bound by strict timelines and safety protocols, and we remain committed to upholding these standards while delivering safe and timely services to the Nigerian public.
“Air Peace continues to stand for discipline, integrity, and respect for due process. No individual, no matter how influential, is above these values,” it stressed.
