OSOPADEC Distributes Study Materials To Students

BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – The Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC), has distributed huge and sizeable amount of quality educational materials to students and pupils of public Secondary and Primary Schools in Ese-Odo and Ilaje Local Government Areas of Ondo state.

Declaring the event open, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) said the State government is very particular about the education of Secondary schools students and public primary schools’ pupils.

The Governor stated that his administration, with the intervention of State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has renovated 700 schools across Ondo state, noting that Ilaje as well as Ese/Odo Local Government areas have benefitted immensely from this intervention programme.

Represented by his Special Adviser (SA) on Education Matters, Dr Wunmi Egbayelo Ilawole, the governor said more recruitment is on the way for teachers while the renovation of school will continue during the current administration’s second term of the present adg in Ondo state.

The Governor charged Principals and Head teachers to continue to ensure that their staff give quality service delivery at all time, promising them the commitment of his government to their welfare.

In his welcome remarks, Chairman of OSOPADEC, Barrister Olugbenga Edema, congratulated the students and charged them as major beneficiaries of the exercise to put the materials to good use.

He specially appreciated Governor Akeredolu for supporting the Commission in its mandate delivery since his inauguration as the Board Chairman.

Edema noted that the State government’s impact is being felt among the Oil producing communities through the lofty projects embarked on and completed by OSOPADEC.

Assuring that more developmental projects would be executed in Governor Akeredolu’s second term, the Chairman said among materials distributed are: 40,571 pieces of 2A Exercise books; 15,714 pieces of 2B Exercise books; and 15, 714 pieces of 2D drawing books

Others include: 40 leaves notes – 45, 357 pieces; 60 Leaves – 58, 500 pieces; Higher Education note books – 1, 071 pieces; and Mathematics set – 12, 750 pieces.

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Chairman in Ilaje local government Chapter, Comrade Omoyele and Comrade Johnbull Mebawondu, State President of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), both appreciated OSOPADEC for the kind gesture and philanthropy extended to the State future leaders.

The occasion, held at The Williams Place, an event centre at Igbokoda in Ilaje Local Government Area, had in attendance OSOPADEC Commissioners, Hon Oluyide Mekuleyi and Hon Ikuepenikan Olumide; Vice Chairman of Ilaje LG, Hon. Obele Dickson; former State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Lebi Adepiti; and NUT National Representative, High Chief Gbayisemore among others.

Also gracing the programme were School Principals and Head Teachers across the two local council areas; and All Progressives Congress (APC) Chapter Chairman, Ilaje Local Government Area, as well as other prominent stakeholders in the State education sector.
