Osun PDP Crisis Worries Iyorchia Ayu
- Urges ceasefire among warring parties
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s national leadership has condemned recent developments in the Osun state chapter of the party, warning instigators of the current crisis to desist from anti-party activities forthwith.
Reacting to reports where a suspended party chieftain recently declared himself acting State party chairman in place of the substantive and duly recognised State Chairman, the national leadership said the action is inimical to the Party’s overall interest.
Competent sources at the Party National Secretariat in Abuja said the PDP National Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, is unhappy with the action of some party chieftains that currently threaten to undermine the Party’s chances at the 2022 governorship poll.
One of the aides at the secretariat said Dr Ayu, on holiday at his country home in Benue for the yuletide, is rudely shocked by the renewed rancour among party members and has been engaging some respectable party chieftains in the South West to mediate and nib in the bud the raging dispute.
It was reliably gathered that with the new National leadership considering Osun as a must-win state following the appointment of Soji Adagunodo as South West chairman, stakeholders are worried scare that the ongoing controversy would distract the PDP from its set goals come 2022 election.
Capturing Dr Ayu’s concerns, one of his Senior aides stated thus; “He is shocked and regards the recent actions as sabotage. The Chairman believed Adagunodo elevation has resolved the Osun crisis as all parties are now compensated one way or the other. Those behind recent disruptions will be sanctioned.
”The Chairman was also not happy that some Osun PDP actors were dropping his names as their supporters. The Chairman has no hand in any crisis. He is not in support of any action that can destroy the peace of Osun PDP.” – With Vanguard report
