Osun Poll: Police Arrest Two APC, One PDP Chieftains For Vote Buying

BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – The Nigeria Police on Saturday announced that following the deployment of operatives from the Intelligence Unit of FCIID, IGP Monitoring Unit and the Intelligence Response Team of the Force to gather intelligence, arrest and prosecute anyone caught attempting or in the act of vote buying or selling, its team on election duty in Osun State arrested three suspects in the act of vote buying and selling.

The first set of suspects were two chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Muriat Olalekan, 61 years old of No. 11 Oloya Street and Hamzat Muniru 65 years old of Molari compound, both of whom were arrested and found with Six Hundred and four Thousand (N604,000.) in their possession. 

The Police in a statement by its spokesman, Acting DCP Jimoh Moshood also said the third suspect, a PDP chieftain, Mr Adeagbo Wasiu of ward 8 unit 9, Fiwasaye Area Osogbo was equally arrested for vote buying.

The Police said Wasiu was searched and one hundred and sixteen thousand naira (116,000) was found and recovered from him.

Moshood said that investigations into the cases are ongoing adding that the suspects will be arraigned in court on completion of findings.
