The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has expressed serious concern over reports of the unwarranted arrest of accredited journalists and observers by the police in the supplementary Osun governorship election.
Some accredited journalists and Observers covering the election were arrested and prevented from operating in some polling units.
Similarly, some agents of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were sent away from some of the polling units and collation centres.
The electoral commission on its website, however said the matter is being taken up with security agencies.
The INEC message on its site reads;
INEC is disturbed about reports that accredited media and observers are being arrested or prevented from operating in some polling units. This is being taken up with the security agencies.
