PDP Crisis: No End In Sight As Wike Fraternises With Buhari, Obi, Oshiomhole, Others
- Woos opposition leaders for projects’ inauguration
BY ONYEKACHUKWU IBEZIM – In spite of positive projections about resolving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaigns’ crisis, Governor Nyesom Wike is not backing down on his unrestrained fraternity with key members of opposition parties ahead of the 2023 general elections.
In what many are already claiming as a setback for the PDP peace moves, the Rivers State Chief Executive has invited President Muhammadu Buhari and the Labour Party (LP)’s Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi for another round of commissioning of projects in the South-South State.
According to the itinerary of events, the President and the former Anambra State Governor top of the list of dignitaries pencilled down by Governor Wike for projects’ commissioning expected to run from Monday, November 14 to Friday, December 2, 2022.
Also among leaders of other political parties expected in the oil-rich State for the projects’ commissioning is the former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and two-term Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Lined up in this latest round of inauguration by Governor Wike, recently conferred with a Distinguished Award in Infrastructure by President Muhammadu Buhari, are 16 completed projects, including world-class multi-billion health and educational projects.
The President, expected to be represented by a top Federal Government functionary, would be inaugurating the tastefully finished and furnished world-class Nabo Graham Douglas Campus of the Nigerian Law School, Port Harcourt, in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, on November 18.
On his part, the Labour Party Standard Bearer, Peter Obi is slated to commission the Nkpolu-Oroworokwo Flyover in Port Harcourt on November 16th while Oshiomhole, a frontline campaigner of the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was invited to inaugurate the Rumepirikom Flyover on November 15.
Aso on the list of invitees is the Emir of Kano, HRH Ado Bayero, scheduled to kick start the series of events with the inauguration of a mega health project, Dr Peter Odili Cancer and Cardiovascular Diseases Diagnostic and Treatment Centre.
Similarly, the Chief Justice of the Federation (CJN), Hon Justice is billed to open the newly completed Federal Judicial Commission Liaison Office and Justice Mary Odili Judicial Institute while the Inspector-General of Police is scheduled to inaugurate the Police Intelligence Centre.
