The 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, has urged his supporters to support and vote for any candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), during the scheduled August 16, 2025 by-elections across some states in the country.
Obi explained that this is based on the fact that the Labour Party has no recognised candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), due to the lingering internal and leadership crisis bedevilling the party.
The former governor Anambra State who made this known in a post on his X handle on Thursday, August 14, 2025, urged members of the Obidient and COPDEM families to specifically vote for the coalition political party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), in their respective states.
Obi wrote; “Kindly note that because the Labour Party has no recognised candidates by INEC due to the internal crisis, I humbly urge every member of Obidient and COPDEM families to go out and vote for the coalition political party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), in their respective states”.
The by-elections have been scheduled to take place by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday, August 16, 2025 in 16 states of the federation with two senatorial, five Federal House of Representatives, and nine State Assembly seats available for contests and voting.
