BY ONYEKACHUKWU IBEZIM – The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, says it is all thanks to God that an important phone call saved him from boarding the Abuja-Kaduna train attacked on Monday by suspected terrorists.
That unfortunate incident left about eight passengers dead, with several others injured and some abducted by the marauding assailants.
Addressing Igbo leaders, who converged in Enugu on the platform of Ahamefuna Socio-cultural organisation, the royal father said he missed boarding the train due to a phone call that drew his attention to handle an emergency.
According to him; “I was among the passengers meant to be on the train last Monday because I had a meeting I was supposed to be attending. I was already at the train station when I got a call over an emergency and I had to leave the station to attend to it”.
The monarch, who expressed worries over the increasing insecurity situation in the country, spoke at the event, tagged “The need for Nigerian Presidency from Southeast Nigeria come 2023”.
