Police Arrest Father of 4 In Rivers Over Rape

• For allegedly drugging, raping and robbing women

BY AWESOME EKENE – The Nigeria Police have arrested a father of four, Favour Ibama, for allegedly raping and stealing from some women in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Ibama is also accused of drugging most of the victims during his criminal escapades.

Spokesperson for the Rivers Police Command, Superintendent (SP) Nnamdi Omoni, said the suspect always lured his victims with fake promises after meeting them on social media.

The Police said Ibama would thereafter arranged a meeting with the women at any designated hotel of his choice, drug, rape and then steal from them

Parading the suspect at Police Command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt on Thursday, Omoni disclosed that Ibama was arrested at a popular supermarket around Ada George area of Port Harcourt.

According to the Police image maker, Ibama met his waterloo when one of the victims identified him and raised an alarm leading to his arrest.

Omoni said; “What happened was that this young man, Favour Ibama, from Bakana in the Degema Local Government Area, is a serial rapist. He was arrested in connection with several cases of rape committed in different hotels.

“His case is akin to the girls David West (a convict) killed in hotels. In this particular case, he didn’t kill them; he only drugged, raped and stole their valuables.

“So, in one of the cases, luck ran out on him when one of the victims identified him at a supermarket and raised the alarm. He was arrested and taken to the Ada George Police Station.

“Of course, he admitted that he actually committed the offence, but denied raping other girls as alleged.”

The police spokesman said the suspect has also made useful statements to detectives handling the case, adding that investigations were currently ongoing.

Recounting their ugly experiences in the hands of Ibama, four of the ladies, who were present at the police headquarters, claimed he took them to different hotels and would then become unconscious after taking drinks he bought for them.

The ladies further alleged that after regaining consciousness, they would then discovered the suspect had not only slept with them but also dispossessed them of their money and other valuables. – With additional reports from The PUNCH.
