Police, FRSC, NSG Conceal Identity Of Killer Driver, Hide Accident Vehicle In Lafia
BY BABA AHMED LAFIA – The authorities of the Nigeria Police, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Nasarawa State government have jointly refused to comment over the vehicular accident involving the son of a high profile government official that killed three people and seriously injured three others in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.
The accident which occurred at about 7:20pm on Friday in Mararaba Akunza area of Lafia, attracted passersby, who nearly lynched the driver (son of the favoured one in the state) before he was rescued by officers and men of the FRSC.
An eyewitness told Forefront News that the driver was on high speed when the accident occurred, adding that the three people he knocked down died on the spot leaving three others severely wounded with one of the victims losing two legs while the second victim lost a limb just as the skull of the third victim was seen half opened.
The eyewitness further said that some of the victims where passengers on KEKE NAPEP coming from Akunza area when dangerous driver ran into them.
The driver (son of the big man), who was believed to be returning from a local Hausa club ”Lancika” was hurriedly whisked away upon being identified as son of high profile person in the state while his vehicle, the KEKE NAPEP and the bodies of the three dead victims were evacuated to an unknown destination.
The early arrival of personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps, saved the driver from mob action owing to what was described as careless driving.
The victims, who were first rushed to the Specialist Hospital, Lafia where later referred to Chida Crescent Hospital, Apo, Abuja.

Kennedy refused to pick their calls to give accounts of the accident and where about of the car involved in the accident particularly the driver, who is believed to have been shielded owing to the influence of his father in the state.
It was gathered that the Nasarawa State government directed the transfer of the victims to the Chida Hospital Abuja and promised to foot the bills of the victims but seriously downplaying the accident as it doesn’t want it reported in the media.
A Senior Consultant in the Hospital, who does not want his name in print, said they were two incidents that happened at about 7:20pm, adding that some of the victims were referred to Abuja, saying that he was not in a position to say the particular hospital the victims were taken to.
This was just as he could not confirm the whereabouts of the dead bodies but photographs made available to Forefront News showed that the limb earlier placed on one of the victims is nowhere to be found.
According to him; “FRSC brought some accident victims to DASH and some with severe injuries were taken to Abuja while some are still in the hospital
responding to treatment”.
But while narrating the ugly incident, Mr. Peter Ayaka, a relation of one of the victims, said he was sitting by the roadside when his sister Miss Ashezi Peter passed with one of her friends that paid her a visit, adding that before he could know what was happening, he had a sound of a car that knock down some people around the roundabout.
Ayaka said as he went to the scene of the accident for rescues mission, he came to the realization that it was his sister that was one of the victims of the avoidable accident.
He further said; “I left my sister unconscious and rushed home to inform my parents over the accident but before we could get back to the scene of
the accident, officials of the Federal Road Safety had evacuated all the victims to Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia.”
