Police Track ATMs’ Vandals In Ilorin
BY VICTOR BUORO – The Kwara State Police command has launched a manhunt for some unknown miscreants that vandalized two Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) of an unnamed bank in Ilorin, the state capital.
According to the Command, all necessary steps are being taken to arrest perpetrators of the vandalization even as the State Commissioner of police, Kayode Egbetokun, has vowed to “stop at nothing in apprehending the perpetrators of this highly despicable act.”
Spokesperson of the Command Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the incident, said the vandals allegedly carted away undisclosed amount of money from the vandalized ATMs.
Okasanmi said in a statement on Thursday that “a report received today that two ATM of a bank (name withheld) was vandalised by unknown hoodlums and an undisclosed amount of money carted away while setting the machines ablaze.
“The command has launched a manhunt for the perpetrators of the vandalization in ilorin. The Commissioner of police, Kayode Egbetokun frowned at this ugly development and has vowed to stop at nothing in apprehending the perpetrators of this highly despicable act.
“He appealed to public spirited individuals to volunteer information that can lead to the arrest of these hoodlums as no effort will be spared to see that this ugly trend is nipped at the bud.”
Assuring that the Police was on top of the situation, Okasanmi said; “Investigation is in progress, the perpetrators of this act will be fished out and be made to face the wrath of the law.”
“Members of the public are advised to go about their lawful endeavours without any fear, while the business community is to be rest assured that the safety of their lives and properties are not under any threat whatsoever” in the state, he said.
