BY EDMOND ODOK, ABUJA – The Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu says Police officers and men deployed across the country during the 2019 elections will be impartial delivering on their constitutional mandate of internal security.
“I have told Nigerians that we are going to be professional and unbiased, and we will give every politician or political party level playing ground to do what they are doing”, he said
Assuring Nigerians that the Nigerian Police will be professional in carrying out their duties professionally, Adamu said there is nothing to fear going into the elections as the Force is focused on ensuring a hitch-free elections come February 16 and March 2, 2019.
The IGP, who made the pledge during his visit to the Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Maikanti Baru, in Abuja, said; “There is not going to be issue of Police siding one group or the other” during the elections.
He said Nigeria’s peace and unity remain paramount and the major focus of the Nigeria Police at all times, stressing that the Force would not renege in its duties of always protecting lives and property of all Nigerians
