Pray For Leaders, Stop Cursing Them – Dahiru Bauchi Tasks Clerics, Nigerians
An Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ibrahim Dahiru Bauchi has charged religious clerics and Nigerians to always pray for political leaders instead of cursing them over the current economic hardship in the country.
This is as he also challenged Islamic leaders to avoid making unguarded statements capable of inciting violence and threatening the peaceful co-existence among the country’s Muslim population.
Addressing a press conference in Bauchi at the weekend as part of activities to mark this year’s eid-el-Maulud celebration, the Islamic Scholar urged the people, particularly the Ulamas, to desist from casting aspersions on one another in the course of preaching or delivering public messages.
Ibrahim, who is Sheikh Dahiru’s eldest son, said clerics and Nigerians should generally stop cursing their leaders because of the current hardship in the country, stressing that; “Hardship or enjoyment are all from Almighty Allah.
“What Nigerians should do at this time is to pray, return thanks to Allah and express optimism that things would change for the better” going forward.
According to him, committing the Leaders to God in prayers, rather than cursing them, is what would bring about the needed divine intervention for Nigeria to witness economic growth and prosperity again
He also maintained that mutual understanding and living in the age-long culture of harmonious co-existence was necessary to ensure stability and peace in the polity.
