President Buhari Constitutes 8-member Economic Advisory Council

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday constituted an 8-member Economic Advisory Council (EAC).

A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, stated that the Advisory Council will replace the present Economic Management Team (EMT) and will be reporting directly to the President.

The Council according to the presidential statement, will advise the President on economic policy matters, including fiscal analysis, economic growth and a range of internal and global economic issues working with the relevant cabinet members and heads of monetary and fiscal agencies.

The EAC will have monthly technical sessions as well as scheduled quarterly meetings with the President.  

Adesina said the Chairman of the council may, however, request for unscheduled meetings with the President if the need arises.

Members of the Economic Council are made up of the following; Prof. Doyin Salami as Chairman, Dr. Mohammed Sagagi as Vice-Chairman with Prof. Ode Ojowu and Dr. Shehu Yahaya as members respectively.

The eight member body also include Dr. Iyabo Masha, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and Mr. Bismark Rewane while Dr. Mohammed Adaya Salisu, who is the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Development Policy will serve as Secretary
