President Buhari Constitutes Team To Meet With Twitter
After weeks of suspending the operations of the microblogging social networking service -Twitter in Nigeria, President Buhari on Tuesday approved and constituted a Federal Government s Team to engage with the organisation.
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the composition of the Federal Government’s Team to engage with Twitter over the recent suspension of the operations of the microblogging and social networking service in Nigeria.
The team which is to be chaired by the Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed has the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Pantami, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyema, Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Raji Fashola and Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Keyamo as members.
A statement by the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Information, Segun Adeyemi, while announcing President Buhari’s approval of the team, said that it will also include other relevant government agencies.
According to Mohammed; “Following the indefinite suspension of its operations in Nigeria, for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence, Twitter wrote to President Buhari seeking to engage with the Federal Government over the suspension, with a view to charting a path forward”.
